WorkSmart Agency Panel Session
Posted on: May 17, 2012 by Cara McDonald
There is perhaps no hotter buzzword in the insurance industry today than workflow. Late last month before the NetVU12 conference, Vertafore hosted a WorkSmart Agency panel session featuring speakers from:
Ag States Group
Atlas Insurance Agency
Conner Strong & Buckelew
Hayward Tilton & Rolapp Insurance Associates
Landscape Contractors Insurance Services
For insurance agencies hungry to improve operational efficiency and boost profitability, this session shared best practices that you won’t want to miss. Here are a few quick comments from the panelists:
We’ve been on WorkSmart for two years and now because of the data that we get, we are looking at our entire renewal process start to finish. Without WorkSmart we couldn’t see each step in the process of how much time steps were taking us. And it’s not can see not just the time spent on tasks, but also the bottlenecks in handoffs and rework going on. All of those things cost a significant amount of money that you might not realize. Our estimated savings for this project is $930K per year. It was breathtaking when we put the dollar amount based on the salaries of the staff to quantify the amount of time being wasted. That’s year-over-year savings, not one time. You think it’s your everyday work, but it’s also creating employee frustration. It’s a win-win all around for everyone. And we can ensure proper servicing of the client. We couldn’t begin to make these improvements without WorkSmart because we couldn’t see into the work.

We’ve recently started role based processing after being on WorkSmart for some time. WorkSmart really helped us define who should be doing what, which really helped us organize and get more efficient in our operation

You don’t have to manage ‘after-the-fact’ if there is a problem. You can proactively manage with the BPR reports. We can manage proactively because I know when I’m going to have a problem tomorrow. Because Sally is out there not wanting to say I’m slow and backed up because she doesn’t want to be the bad guy. I don’t have to worry about that. I don’t have to ask what’s on the desk because I can see what everyone is working on.
