CONYERS, Georgia - (April 2, 2009) - Vertafore, a provider of market-leading software and services to the insurance industry, is pleased to announce the company donated $100,000 to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) in 2008 as a result of fundraising efforts and donations from the company's Conyers, Georgia office.
"Tough economic times often put a strain on charitable organizations," said Matt McKernan, president of Vertafore's Carrier & MGA Markets. "The work that PHA does is critical to the thousands of individuals affected by pulmonary hypertension, and because a much-loved employee of ImageRight, Kerry Bardorff, was lost to the disease several years ago. It is extremely important that PHA be able to do what they need to do."
Vertafore's contribution is intended to support PHA's efforts to produce and distribute information about the disease and to help the association aid pulmonary hypertension patients and their families.
Pulmonary Hypertension, or PH, is a simplified name for a complex health problem of which the main symptom is high blood pressure in the lungs. It is a rare, deadly disease that affects approximately 100,000 Americans of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. PH is often misdiagnosed, causing many people to lose valuable treatment time and leading to a poor prognosis. It can affect small children and the elderly, but most often it strikes young women in the prime of their lives. There is no cure for PH, but many recent research advances are providing hope through new treatments and diagnostic innovations.
Vertafore is committed to supporting PHA's efforts towards finding a cure. Vertafore's $100,000 donation represents money collected through fundraising efforts by and donations from the staff of the Conyers, Georgia office, which is the primary office supporting Vertafore's ImageRight content management and workflow solution.
"ImageRight has been an extraordinary partner in the fight against pulmonary hypertension," said Rino Aldrighetti, president of PHA. "They came to the fight in honor of Kerry Bardorff, who was a great leader in the PH community before her passing. All of us at PHA have tremendous respect and appreciation for her fellow employees and managers, who have worked hard and shown such dedication to honor her memory."
