Having been a General Manager in various analytics businesses for over twenty years, Jon revels in using data driven approaches to developing strategic and associated operational execution plans that align and focus team priorities to drive customer value and market leading business positions.

Prior to joining Vertafore, Jon served in several senior executive positions with Thomson Reuters, Truven Health Analytics, and IBM leading business segments in those organizations that supported insurers, government agencies and large employers with a wide variety of decision support, payment integrity, and operational management software products and services.

Jon graduated from the University of Georgia with a business degree in Risk Management and Insurance, from The College of William & Mary with an MBA, and from Emory University with an MPH degree in Health Policy and Management. Early in his career, Jon helped start and lead several managed care plans with The Prudential. He was also a senior health care and employee benefit consultant with legacy firms now part of both Mercer and Aon.

Jon also holds Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designations.

1. What do you love most about your role at Vertafore?

The opportunity to blend my expertise and experiences with those of many other smart and experienced professionals to seek out ways to partner with customers to constantly find ways to raise the bar in helping them realize the promise of InsurTech innovation.

2. How did you get into the InsurTech business?

My entire career―starting with my undergraduate college degree in risk management and insurance―has been focused on performance improvement and driving value for commercial and public insurance organizations and programs. Within health insurance, I was involved in the early days of managed care expansion and in bringing lessons learned within the industry and from other industries to bear. I relish the opportunity to extend many of those experiences to other aspects of the industry.

3. What are you most excited about for the future of InsurTech?

While there are certain foundational elements of underwriting and managing risk, the increasing willingness among key stakeholders to explore new technologies, approaches to traditional processes, and business models to drive organizational differentiation, growth and success couldn’t be more energizing.

4. What’s your idea of the perfect weekend? 

Being together with family and friends playing football, volleyball and picnicking on the sunny Lake Michigan beaches and swimming, boating and paddleboarding in the warm Great Lakes waters.

5. I’m coming to visit you! What are your favorite/must-do things in your city?

The college towns of East Lansing and Ann Arbor have a youthful vibrancy that is contagious. Hanging out and enjoying local restaurants, unique shops, arts and cultural festivals and Big 10 college sporting events are always a memorable treat.
