For the past 20 years, Steve has helped companies through various roles in IT, technology, and operations, specializing in leading integration teams after acquisitions. When Steve joined Vertafore in October of 2017, he built our customer support reporting, dashboards and key metrics from scratch and united all of our support centers across the country, bringing them to one standard. As General Manager of our Distribution and Compliance Management business, Steve is committed to working with the entire distribution channel to drive system automation and overall efficiency.

Steve is a seasoned technology and software executive, with over 20 years of experience across varying industries in technology. Before joining Vertafore, Steve spent a year at Chess, the UK’s leading technology solutions provider as their Chief Operating Officer. Previously, he has held several senior leadership roles in operations and technology at TSG and Utilize.

1. What do you love most about your role at Vertafore?

What I love most about my role at Vertafore is seeing people come in, new to the insurance industry, learn about the company and insurance overall, and then watching them have the opportunity to apply that knowledge and progress through the organization.

2. How did you get into the InsurTech business?

I’ve always been in the technology or software industries, but in my previous role I had purchased software from a company in the Vista Equity Partners portfolio, and I was connected to Amy Zupon. The rest is history.

3. What are you most excited about for the future of InsurTech?

I am most excited about the opportunity we have as a leader in our space to be able to develop solutions that will help the industry. We can ultimately automate some of the interim processes the insurance industry has, making our customers more efficient and giving them the ability to provide a faster and more enhanced service to their customers.

4. What’s your idea of the perfect weekend?

This was a tough question! For me, my idea of the perfect weekend is getting outside during the day and then spending the evening grilling and having a pint with friends and family.

5. I’m coming to visit you! What are your favorite/must-do things in your city?

I am new to East Lansing, having grown up in England and I haven’t had much time to explore yet. I’ve been told taking a walk along the Red Cedar River, grabbing a pint at Lansing Brewing Company and catching a Lansing Lugnuts game in the summer are great things to do. I’ll have to keep you updated on what else I find!
